Pattern Sunday

The Pattern in honour of St. Brigid is held every year in Brideswell on the last Sunday of July, known also as Garland Sunday.

The Pattern starts with mass at noon and there are 'stations' at 4 p.m. This format for the Pattern goes back to 1957 when, under the guidance of Rev. Fr. Brendan Fitzmorris C.C. a Pattern committee was inaugurated.

At this time also a statue of St. Brigid was erected near the well. Many people visit St. Brigid's well on Pattern Sunday.

Sir Randall Mc Donnell built a gateway over the sacred well, bearing his name, coat of arms and the date 1625.
